I second the last comment. This charity is trying to do amazing work for some of the most disadvantaged people in south wales; sometimes against all the odds. It's not afraid to try new things and listen to ideas from staff and the people who use the services, OK - sometimes things do get difficult, and money isn't always secure (everyone knows that times are difficult for charities in a recession) but all in all a good bunch of people trying to make a difference.
One problem is that you don't get the kind of perks that you might do in the public sector - e.g. final salary pensions - but they try and help with family-friendly policies instead. But I guess it's about whether you want to try and make a difference. Some politician recently said that bankers are socially useless, so its nice to be working in an area that helps people who've had a bad deal in life.
I've tried to be realistic with the ratings - most people don't go into charity work, social services etc. for the money - so I've put this in context with similar types of work.

The majority of the people in the company are low to mid level. A number of these people are poor at their jobs however there is no recognition for the competent employee's hard work above and beyond what the others are doing. The hard workers will take risks without reward and will be punished when they get things wrong; the ones who do the bare minimum will get the same benefits (sometimes more!) and never get in any trouble.
Before long a culture of the bare minimum develops - a culture which is far from challenging.

Being a consultancy, they only make money when you are billable...I guess I should have seen that their priority would be to make you billable at whatever the cost.

This is an excellent place if you need a tiny bit of 'work experience', but frustrating if you want anything more.

A small to medium sized company owned by two men who could have walked straight out of the pages of a Charles Dickens novel. Never mind stuck in the 80s as everyone who works there says, try still stuck in the 1880s. There are few benefits to working there and the screws are tightened hard on all employees. They obsess about minor things andf ignore the real issues. To succed there you must adopt a dog eat dog philosophy or else suck up to those who have the ear of the MDs. The operations director wears two faces and for all her pretensions of being nice will pursue her own agenda and that of the MDs which is often petty and vindictive. Nice people should not apply as you will start looking for another job within a few months. Most people leave within 12-24 months finding a new job permitting.

Good management can make all the difference in how you feel about your work. My manager is passionate about their services and genuinely cares about the welfare of their staff and service users, which makes for a very positive and happy work environment.
Wages aren't the best but at least I feel secure and supported in my job. There are far worse companies out there.....ones who aren't quite so stringent on training their new and existing staff!
One unfortunate aspect of this work (not just united response) is staff who are in the job more for what they can get out of it rather than for what they can put into it.
Support work is extremely rewarding IF you have the right attitude and care more about people's welfare than money and status. If you want the latter then maybe support work just isn't for you.

Company is a charity working mainly with homeless people. Funding often mis-directed which prevents you from doing your correct job. 'Funny Handshakes' pave way for advancement. Managers have a largely unbalanced power ratio. Staff sickness is huge across projects due to poor/no supervision. The most experienced and commited workers more often than not seek work elsewhere leaving poorly motivated staff who care little. Atmosphere of suspicion underlays daily work. All in all, a very, very poor company to work for that seem more interested in 'empire building'.

I work in one of the 4 stores in the UK and love my job, it is The best retail job i have ever had!!!. It has a european style of managment,It dose not shout about Its prices, we let the customers make their own judgement.
With the stylish productswe sell, and the pleasant environment to shop and work in, with astonishingly low prices. It dose not mess around with prices, everything in our stores is priced at either £1, £2, £5 or £10.

At the moment the company is still very small in the UK.but has a very cool website www.tigerstores.co.uk .

It is THE best retail job i have ever had.I will NOT be looking for a new job ever again!!!
